Sarah Kurth

As the Adminstrative Coordinator for New Wine, I have the honor and joy of seeing the behind-the-scenes action around here! God led me up to Portland after graduating with a BArch degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2006. Since then He has constantly challenged and blessed me through Multnomah and the amazing people I get to work with every day. Since it’s not as sunny here as in SLO, I’ve developed a taste for coffee and knitting, two of my favorite indoor activities, although I look forward to the summertime most of all. When it’s nice out, I’ll be off to the farmer’s market, berry picking, hiking, or to picnic in the park with my husband.

This will be a time of music, prayer, reflection, and fellowship. Stephanie Ahn will also be providing a brief introduction to biblical justice. You will also be able to hear about upcoming opportunities to serve together to promote God’s heart for the poor, sick, and all of creation. Their hope is that this will be a time of reconnecting and spiritual refreshment for all.

Gospel, Church and Culture Workshop

When: - PDT

Where:
Multnomah Biblical Seminary
8435 NE Glisan Street
Portland, OR 97220

Dr. Paul Louis Metzger and Dr. Brad Harper will be speaking about how the church is to minister in culture as the triune God’s kingdom community.  Their talks are based on their forthcoming book with Brazos: Exploring Ecclesiology: An Evangelical and Ecumenical Introduction (2009).  Metzger and Harper will address such questions as “What is the gospel?”  “What should the church’s relation to culture be?” and “What difference does it make for the church in its ministry in the broader culture that it is the triune God’s kingdom community?”  Tony Kriz will serve as the MC for the workshop.  There will be ample time for Q&A during the proceedings.  As Christ-followers committed to Christ’s church’s missional outreach, it is important that we exegete rightly the Bible as well as the culture into which we seek to communicate the gospel.  Please join us, and help us wrestle with these important issues!  Suggested donation: $5.00 per individual.  New Wine, New Wineskins is an official program of Multnomah Biblical Seminary and is committed to assisting the entire Multnomah University community in its efforts to bear witness to Christ in contemporary culture.
